How I Got Better At Content Marketing - 7 Tips For Aspiring Writers To Emulate by Tamilore Sonaike

I remember the first time I read this article when Tamilore posted it on her LinkedIn. After reading it, I felt like a better writer already. The article starts out with where Tamilore started, as she included a screenshot of her then boss looking forward to her improving her work, and goes on to share tips that helped her improve. Of all the 7 tips she shared in this post, my favorite is number 6; drooling with (healthy) envy.

And yes, you thought right. That’s the reason I wrote this blog post in the first place. I was so envious (the healthy kind) of all these marketers’ skills that I had to share what makes them so good with you.

How To Write What Humans Would Actually Love To Read - A Simple Guide by Sandra Tabansi

The first thing Sandra tells us in this article is that what marketers need to do to write great articles that their audience will love, is to be honest. And guys, that’s one of the best tips I’ve ever heard. I’ve taken this approach lately with the Tix blog and I have the metrics to show for it. So if you’re reading this, thank you Sandra!

Although this was my major takeaway from this article, I still loved her 5-step guide and the bonus tip she gave about trying not to write like a robot. It’s very easy to forget this when you’re writing for a B2B tech startup like I do, so it was helpful to get this reminder.

10 SEO Tips To Boost Your Organic Traffic and Ranking by Gift Arku for Smarketers Hub

Now SEO is something I struggled with for my first few months as a content marketer. It seemed so daunting and complicated, and I never believed I would ever get great results from doing SEO on my own. Thankfully, Gift broke it down in this article and I found it super relatable.

The article started out with telling us how important SEO is in marketing, which served as a reminder for me to take it seriously if I wanted to succeed as a content marketer. Next, she broke down 10 things you need to do if you want to successfully optimize a website for search engines and increase your ranking and organic traffic. She explained a lot, and even listed some trusted tools to help you with some of the tips. After implementing these tips, Tix’s organic traffic and ranking went all the way up 🚀

These Landing Page Hacks Will Blow Conversion Through The Roof by Chima Mmeje

Here's an oldie but goldie. This article helped me when I was writing website copy for the new AjoCard website. This is definitely the most comprehensive guide to writing a great landing page I've ever seen, so reading it and implementing the tips I got from this article were very exciting for me.

The one thing I got from this article was the first tip Chima shared, about making a great first impression with an attractive landing late design. I realized that content marketing was more than writing the copy for the website, and this led me to take a front seat during the design process of the new AjoCard website. If you need a quick but thorough guide to teach you how to write a great landing page, or even copy for a whole website, this article is for you, trust me.

Content Accessibilty: What Is It, And Why Is It Important? By Aisha Owolabi

In Aisha’s article, she started by telling us that WHO estimates that about 15% of the world’s population is disabled to one extent or the other. 15% may sound like a small number, but considering that the world’s population is almost 8 billion, that's a very large number of people. This lays out the importance of creating accessible content, and Aisha tells us how we can do this for written content, images and infographics, videos and podcasts, and social media content.

I particularly love this article because you don't typically see a lot of marketers placing importance on content accessibility, or lots of resources on how to make your content accessible. This was a unique topic Aisha decided to tackle, and I'm glad I learned a lot from it.

Here's Why You Need to Start Measuring Your Content Efforts by Folasade Daini

Like Folasade said, if you're a non-technical team member in a tech startup, the chances that you're feeling like a ‘nice-to-have’ team member and not a ‘I deserve a seat at the table’ team member are pretty high. And honestly, this came at the perfect time for me because I was struggling with being unappreciated at work and this was the perfect solution.

So in this article, she spoke less about how to be a better content marketer and more about how to show your team or management that you're valuable to them. How do you do this? By measuring and documenting the results of your content efforts. I can tell you more, but then you wouldn't read the article. So go ahead and read it, and start documenting. I promise, you'll feel much better about your work just like I did.

Content Repurposing: The Swiss Army Knife of Engagement (+ Automating Feedback) by Tamilore Oladipo

Tamilore started this article by highlighting that content repurposing is a great way to grow a large audience in a short time, and I agree. This is a short and sweet framework for repurposing content that she shared on her Creator Kinfolk LinkedIn Newsletter and I love it. It’s pretty straightforward and she even gave a great example to guide you.

I'm about to try this out for Tix, so let's see how it goes.

I really enjoyed writing this blog post, almost as much as I enjoyed reading all the articles I've shared here. If you're a content marketer still trying to learn the basics or improve on what you already know, I hope you check these articles out and learn as much as I learned from them.
